The Craft
Four hands, four stages
Tarkasi follows the same sequence it has for generations. Nothing is poured or pressed — the silver is worked the whole way through.

Drawing
Pure silver is pulled repeatedly through a drawplate until the wire is finer than a strand of hair.

Framing
Thicker wire is bent into the outline of the piece — the skeleton that holds everything that follows.

Filling
The fine thread is coiled and packed into the frame by hand, building the lace that gives filigree its name.
04
Soldering
Silver dust is dusted over the work and heated until every joint fuses in a single, careful pass.
The Atelier
Made by the silver families of Cuttack
Cuttack has worked silver into thread for centuries, and the skill still passes from one generation to the next inside family workshops. A single detailed set can take an artisan several days to complete.
We work directly with these makers — no middle layer — so the people who do the work keep the larger share of it.
